A worker of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh or RSS was pulled out of the autorickshaw he was driving in Kerala’s Kannur this morning by a group of men, who then attacked him with sharp weapons.

Huddled inside the autorickshaw and watching in fright were four children from class 1 and 2 who the RSS worker, AV Biju, drives every morning to school. Mr Biju was driving down the route that he usually takes, a short-cut between two main roads, when he was attacked.

It is barbaric (doubly so, given that that act of violence was perpetrated in full view of young children), it is horrific — and I don’t give a flying fuck.

Because who does?

In Kasargod C Narayanan was stabbed to death by two BJP workers, who dragged him out of his home and butchered him in front of his parents.

In Thrissur around the same time, BJP worker Abhilash was hacked to death by people owing allegiance to the CPM.

Before that, it was someone else. And before that, someone else. And so on, ad infinitum, ad nauseum.

The way I know of these deaths, and of so many others, is through social media, where the headlines are a whole other level of bizarre.

“RSS man hacked — where is the outrage, you sickular libtard fucks?”

“Communist activist killed — where are you now, you right wing douchebags?”

And so it goes, in this deadly game of political gotcha. Not once do I see someone, either on the right or on the left, mourning any of these senseless deaths — each killing, each fresh outrage, is gleefully seized on to score one in this endless game where there are no winners or losers, only survivors.

So yeah, I am done outraging. I don’t give a fuck any more. If you — on the left and on the right — want to reduce politics to a gladiatorial blood sport, good luck to you, and may the worst, most brutal, man win.

Item: I read that news item, of the RSS man’s murder in Kannur, on my way to a lunch meeting. Two hours later, on my way back, I opened up my news list and found this:

Five police personnel were injured and three police vehicles damaged in an attack by RSS workers, who surrounded the police station in Kottarakara, Kollam district demanding release of an arrested activist, police said on Tuesday.
