Likely away from the desk for large chunks of today, folks, so please take this as an open thread and post away: thoughts, links, stuff I should be reading but haven’t… whatever. Will try and make it back on here later in my evening.

This report on Cricinfo where Flower defends Pietersen.
I really do not care what Boycott thinks about him – we all know Boycott is England’s BS Bedi. But what gets my goat is the defense line from Flower:
“I don’t think you can just isolate him, even though he’s the most high-profile guy,” Flower said. “He, like any batsman, will review his game and the decisions he made, and he’ll regret that he got out. He’s playing for England, he’s very proud to play for England, and he’s trying to do his best and win games for us.”
Pietersen got out due to a poor shot selection. Any batsman, especially a reputed batsman of his stature, will review that and be more judicious in the next outing since his team also depends on him to make a big one and count.
Where did this pride for playing for England come in? Does it mean Pietersen would be less inclined to review his shot selection had he played for South Africa? Or does he mean that just by playing for England he has proven that he is a responsible bat?
I just do not get it with these English cricketers (or even those associated with it). It is after all a game of cricket. You played a stupid shot and got out. Now get on with it.
Missed linking the report;
